When I was a young girl (I know that seems to be how every post starts out) the only pet I worried about raising was my white bunny rabbit with pink eyes named Furlean. I know that's quite a strange name, but I thought that's what Bambi's girlfriend was named... Either way, she was my pet. I put her in my closet a few times hoping my mom wouldn't notice. I didn't get away with it long story short. She was supposed to live for two-three years, that's how long my dad's rabbits lived when he was a kid. Mine lived for 8 years maybe more, I don't know for sure because she got let out of her pen one day and never returned... I also collected "stray" dogs. I say "Stray" because they were dogs with collars, probably from somewhere in the neighborhood, but since they were wandering, I figured they must be lost. So I would get the baby toy links (Looks like a colorful chain) and hook that onto the dog collar, and attach the other end to a garbage can. I thought of everything. The garbage can was the shelter, the baby toy was the chain, and just in case they got hungry I would bring them a bowl of Cheerios to satisfy their state of obvious starvation. Unfortunately for me, my parents knew too many people, as did my Grandparents so the "strays" never stayed long.
Well, this week I was introduced to a ten year old girl that blew my mind. She has raised an absolutely gorgeous Red Angus Steer for 4-H. Yeah, trying hiding one of those babies in your closet... I would imagine it wouldn't go over so well. Instead he is living the life with his own fan in the shed/garage just to keep his fur fluffy and cool. Geez. I think he gets better treatment than I do! He seems to love grass, weird I know since he's a cow but he doesn't seem to mind! Other than eating, he is a pretty darn mellow dude! Now the funny part was putting little Miss Presleigh up next to this big guy! I giggled a few times seeing the size comparison. That didn't stop this girl from accepting such a big challenge! She is amazing! She has raised this little calf into a full grown steer that resembles a big teddy bear.
I'm so excited to see her show him off at the fair! Which brings me to an excellent point!
IF you would like to show some love and support for this amazing girl, they will be holding an auction for him at the Caribou County Fair. The details are as follows:
The Livestock Auction will be held on FRIDAY, August 2nd, 2019 @ 10 am (Don't be late!)

This will be held at the Caribou County Fair Grounds, in the Livestock Show Barn in Grace, Idaho.
Your donation will be graciously accepted! If you would like to show some support to this magnificent human being and her Steer but can't make the auction, checks can be made out to: Caribou County Market Animal and mail them in. PLEASE make sure to specify it's for Presleigh Steadman!
I want to share Presleigh's introduction with you:
My name is Presleigh Ross Steadman. I'm going to be a 5th grader at Thatcher Elementary this coming school year. This is my second year showing a steer in 4-H. My steer this year is named Rusty. Rusty is a Red Angus that I have raised from our own herd. This year I've learned compassion, respect and responsibility by caring for my livestock. I would love your support in helping me sell my steer this year! I would like to invite you to the Caribou County 4-H Animal Market sale. Money I receive for my steer will go towards next years steer project as well as saving for my future... I would love to see you there! Thank you for your support!
If you can't already tell, this girl is a GEM. She's a hard worker, determined, with a pinch of sass and a whole lot of sweet! I loved my time spent with this girl and her family! Good luck Miss Presleigh!
